Presidential Nomination Primary Election set for March 5, 2024

By law, only major parties may participate in the Presidential Nomination Primary Election. The three major parties in Minnesota are Democratic-Farmer-Labor party, Legal Marijuana Now party and Republican party. The chair of each party will submit a list of candidates for the party’s ballot no later than 63 days before the date of the presidential nomination primary (Jan. 2, 2024).

When voting, residents must choose which major party’s ballot they want. The party chosen will not be public information, though it will be available to each major party following the election.

Vote Early: Absentee Ballot or Direct Ballot 

  • Vote early IN PERSON for the Presidential Nomination Primary Election by absentee ballot at Spring Park City Hall, 4349 Warren Avenue, Spring Park, MN 55384 starting Jan. 19 at 7:30 A.M. through 5 P.M. March 4. Spring Park City Hall is open from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.  Monday through Thursday and 7:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M on Fridays for early voting. In addition, there will be extended hours on Saturday, March 2, from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. 
  • Receive an absentee ballot through the MAIL. Apply online at the Minnesota Secretary of State website.
  • Vote by DIRECT BALLOT Feb. 19-29 from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., March 2 from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M., and March 4 from 7:30- A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
